"That is part of the beauty of literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings and that you are not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong." -- F. Scott Fitzgerald
This year marks my 5th year teaching and my 5th year as a part of Springtown ISD. I have been at Springtown Middle School for the last four years, where I taught 8th Grade ELAR, PAL, 8th Grade Honors ELAR and 7th Grade Honors ELAR. This year will be my first year at Springtown High School and I couldn't be more excited!
Each year has been the most rewarding experience and I have been blessed beyond measure with the most supportive co-workers, the world's most wonderful students, and the opportunity to teach a subject I am truly passionate about.
My love of Language Arts begat at the ripe old age of 9 when my 3rd grade GT teacher  required each of us to choose a UIL event to participate in. I chose creative writing, and haven't been caught without my pens (colored pens, of course) and notebook since!  That was the same year that I read Hugh Lofting's "Dr. Doolittle" and, despite my best efforts, fell in love with literature as well. That love continued to grow throughout grade school and ultimately lead to my decision to study literature in college!
I majored in English at the University of North Texas ( GO MEAN GREEN!) with an emphasis in World Literature.
It is my hope that my passion for reading and writing is able to shine through in my teaching and will inspire my students to become life-long readers and writers!
I am so excited to begin my journey teaching English 1 and I know that we are going to have an amazing school year!
Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns at any time!
Don't forget to sign up for Remind101! I use it to send out reminders about homework, projects, tests, and other class information!
