    Welcome to ELAR

Welcome to my classroom. My name is Debbie Parker and I am your child's English Language Arts Reading (ELAR) teacher this year. We will be doing a variety of activities throughout the year that will incorporate these skills. Reading is one of the most important skills your child will ever learn. I believe the child who reads well and loves to read will excel in school and in life. To help your child become a better reader I am requiring daily independent reading through the Reading Renaissance Program. Students will be required to read outside of the classroom for a minimum of 20 minutes each evening.  I ask that you help your child remember to do their independent reading each week so that they know you also hold them accountable for their reading practice. Independent reading will be part of the reading grade so it is very important! Please feel free to contact me with any questions, my conference time is 11:45-12:15 each day. I appreciate your support and look forward to a great year! Always remember I am here to HELP...to Hear, Encourage, Love, and Prepare your child for the future.

    Sincerely,
    Ms. Debbie Parker
