• Kindergarten PE

    Dear Parent,

Our goal in physical education is for everyone to feel successful.  This enables students to develop a positive attitude toward physical activity and to develop healthful habits, which will hopefully continue throughout their lives.

Students will be encouraged to have fun and enjoy PE.  They will also be encouraged to participate to the best of their ability in a wide variety of activities.  In our kindergarten classes the student will learn basic ways of moving.  They will also have the opportunity to participate in simple games and fitness activities.  Students will be taught a variety of skills including kicking, dribbling, throwing, and catching, which will enhance their eye-hand and eye-foot coordination.  They will also learn to use equipment safely and correctly.

Kindergarten students will have PE everyday in the morning.  Tennis shoes are recommended.  Appropriate shoes must have a non- marking rubber sole and cover the entire foot.  If sandals, open back shoes, high heel shoes or leather soled boots are worn to school the student will not be allowed to participate. If this is consistent we will notify parents. Cleats are not allowed in PE and Roller shoes MUST have the rollers removed.  If your child does not have appropriate shoes points will be taken off participation grade. We would be happy to assist our students’ for needed supplies (shoes), if there is a financial need. Please let us know if there is a problem with obtaining shoes. We want all students to be able to participate daily and we will work with the student in all ways possible.

***If your child has any physical disabilities, please let us know.  Problems such as chronic asthma, allergies, heart problems, diabetes, etc. need to be documented and kept in our files in the PE office.  Prior knowledge will help us to monitor your child closely and correct or alleviate any problems that arise.  The students’ safety is important to us as they go through their daily PE routine.

My conference period is from 8:30- 9:30 a.m.  Please feel free to contact me during this time when the need arises.  Please refer to the back of this letter for the physical education rules, discipline, and our grading system.
