• My students are expected to read each night for 30 minutes and to write about what they read. Each genre is different and has different characteristics so the reflective writing will also be different. This means that the summaries for fiction books will be different than the summaries for nonfiction text. We talk about this a LOT in class so your child should be able to answer any questions that you may have but feel free to email me if you are wondering about anything regarding their independent reading and writing. I have also given them notes in their binder to help with what to include in the summaries.

Below is a link to a handout with information about what I expect my students to write about as they read FICTION text. Students also have this information in their binder. Nonfiction notes are also in their binder.
