Springtown ISD School Health Advisory Council or SHAC follows the 8 component model of school health.
The committee has been established to provide assistance to the Texas Board of Health and the Texas Department of Health in establishing a leadership role in support for and delivery of school health.
This committee welcomes representation from all aspects of the community, which includes parents, students, teachers, administration, school board members, church and medical professionals.
SHAC strives to meet the needs of the community. It will solicit input from professionals and lay persons from the community that guide in decisions affecting the school health program. It is important to emphasize that the council formed will provide advice and recommendations, but is not a part of the administrative structure of the school.
The School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) will provide young people with the knowledge and skills they need to become healthy and productive adults.
The Committee will assist the District in ensuring that local community values and health issues are reflected in the District's health education instruction. Please contact SHAC Chairperson Laura Hughes via email (firstname.lastname@example.org
) or by phone at 817-220-7455. Shelby Willis serves as the SHAC Co-Chair.
