Welcome to Springtown Elementary First Grade!
MORNING ROUTINE: All parent drop off is at YELLOW PARENT PICK-UP (Hinkle Gym east end of the building facing the track). There is no pickup or drop-off at the front of the school. Doors open at 7:10 at YELLOW Parent Pick Up/Hinkle Gym. Any student not eating breakfast should arrive by 7:30. He/she will go to their classroom at that time. Breakfast ends promptly at 7:35.
ATTENDANCE INFORMATION: Tardy Bell rings at 7:40. If your child is NOT IN THE CLASSROOM by 7:40 he/she will be marked tardy. If your child arrives at school after 8:05 he/she will be marked absent for first period. Please make sure to SEND A NOTE when your child is tardy or absent, phone calls are not accepted as a replacement. This note must include the child's name, reason for absence or tardy, date of absence or tardy and teacher's name. New this year: Students who are tardy will need to be signed in at the office by an adult.
DEPARTURE: School dismisses at 3:20. DISTRICT-wide policy (approved by the school board): Students signed out prior to 3:20 will be counted absent. Please do not sign out your child early unless it is absolutely necessary. There can be No changes to how a student gets home after 2:30 pm. This will help ensure that your child gets home safely.
First graders will go to YELLOW parent pick-up (auditorium on the east side of the building), unless your first grader has a sibling in Pre-K, 3rd or 4th grade. If so, he/she will go to the ORANGE parent pick-up area (little gym on the south side of the building) with their sibling.
PLEASE HAVE YOUR “PICK-UP SIGN” WHEN PICKING UP YOUR CHILD.
FOR YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY, PLEASE STAY IN YOUR CAR SO THE LINE WILL MOVE FASTER.
NURSE: The nurse has requested that each child bring a change of clothes to keep at school just in case there is a bathroom accident, spill at lunch, etc. The clothes will be kept in his/her locker. The nurse has requested donations of children's shirts, underwear and pants.
TAKE HOME FOLDER: The Take Home Folder will be sent home every day, and it is to be brought back each morning. The folder will include homework, completed work, notes, newsletters, and other important information. Help your child make this folder his/her responsibility.
Please make sure to initial the behavior calendar each day.
NEWSLETTER: At the beginning of each week your child will bring home a first grade newsletter. It will contain very important information. We will also offer an online newsletter.
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO READ THE NEWSLETTER EACH WEEK.
P.E.: Each child will have physical education daily. Please make sure your child comes to school with tennis shoes to wear for P.E. This is for the safety of each child as he/she participates in P.E.
