Degrees and Certifications:

Degree: Bachelor in Music Education - TCU Certifications: K-12 Music, K-12 Art

Megan Hibbetts

Hello Everyone!

My name is Mrs. Hibbetts, and I have the pleasure of teaching 5th grade Music and 6th Grade Choir at SIS.  I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from TCU.  I am starting my sixth year teaching music and choir, but before that I was a band director and color guard director in Springtown ISD and Weatherford ISD.

I live in the Fort Worth area with my husband Eric.  He and I have a 7 year old son named AJ, and our 3 year old daughter Arilyn.  In addition to music, I love crocheting, Pokemon Go, tabletop games, jogging, and comics!

This year we have a new schedule to help EVERYONE in 5th and 6th grade get a sample of what the Fine Arts at SIS have to offer.

---> 5th grade students will rotate through the three "specials" - art, music, and health - and spend one six weeks in each class in the fall.  In the spring, 5th graders will rotate through all three classes again, ensuring that everyone has a total of two six weeks periods in each class!

---> 6th grade students who are not enrolled in band will take both art and choir in sixth grade.  They will spend a semester in each class.  This allows *everyone* to at least get one semester of their first choice elective, and helps a little with controlling class sizes in a record breaking 6th grade class.

CONCERTS: This year, we will have several optional concerts for both our 5th and 6th grade students.  All concerts are for a grade BUT if a student cannot attend for ANY reason (scheduling conflict, illness, transportation problem, family emergency), they can complete a backup assignment and still have to opportunity to make a 100 for the concert assignments.  Backup assignments will be on Schoology and will go "live" one week before the concert.
