School Safety and Security

Safety and Security Letter to SISD Stakeholders

Springtown ISD’s staff and Trustees have consistently committed a great deal of time and energy to evaluating school safety and security programs as well as related procedures/guidelines. Independent Safety and Security audits have provided helpful information, as have recent “Parker County Safety Summit” meetings with area law enforcement agencies and neighboring school districts. We are committed to the idea that Springtown’s students will be “Safe, secure, and successful.”

In light of recent tragedies across the country, our Trustees have been especially attentive to the changing needs our schools are encountering. As a District, Springtown ISD is currently reviewing options for elevating the level of safety and security provided our stakeholders, including but not limited to:

Allowing highly-trained teachers and administrators to be armed (School Guardian/Defender Program)

Allowing armed “School Marshals” with peace officer training to be employed by the District (School Marshal Program)

Adding more School Resource Officers (SROs) to the staff

In an effort to solicit feedback from our community, a survey has been generated and is available here.  Links will also be provided through our Facebook page, and paper copies are available at the District’s Administration Building for those more comfortable with traditional pen-and-paper environments. Data from the surveys will be shared with our Trustees during the July Board Meeting.
