Springtown ISD is proud to announce that the Board of Trustees has officially approved Candie Thompson as the next principal of Reno Elementary.
Thompson brings 15 years of experience in education, all rooted in Springtown ISD. She began her career in 2011 as a second-grade teacher at Springtown Elementary, where she spent 11 years building strong relationships with students and families while creating a classroom environment centered on connection, growth, and success.
For the past four years, Thompson has served as Assistant Principal at Springtown Middle School, where she further developed her leadership skills and deepened her commitment to student advocacy and campus culture. While she has valued her time at the secondary level, her passion for elementary education has remained strong.
โMy journey in education has been fueled by a passion for watching students discover their potential, and I couldn't be happier to return to my elementary roots to lead such an incredible school community,โ Thompson said. โI truly believe a school is most successful when it feels like a family, and I am excited to build those relationships with our Reno students, staff, and families.โ
A proud Springtown High School graduate, Thompsonโs connection to the community runs deep. She and her husband, Ken Thompson, Head Girls Basketball Coach at Springtown High School, have been married for 22 years and are the proud parents of four grown children: Kaleb, Ethan, Dayne, and Chase.
Thompson shared that her experiences as both an educator and a parent have shaped her belief in the importance of strong partnerships between schools and families.
โI understand firsthand the importance of the partnership between home and school, and I am committed to maintaining an open-door policy for all our Reno families,โ she said.
Springtown ISD leadership is confident that Thompsonโs experience, passion, and deep ties to the community will continue to strengthen Reno Elementary and support student success.
