The Springtown Police Department wants to remind our community that school zones will officially be back in effect on the first day of School, August 13th (Wednesday)! 🚦 Please check the school zone times on the graphic below and remember to SLOW DOWN and look both ways for children.

📚 We currently have over 4,400 students registered for the new school year — that’s more than 200 students above last year! While we know first-day “no shows” may bring that number down a bit… that’s still a LOT of Porcupines! 🦔🧡

✅ Be mindful of school zones
✅ Show grace as everyone learns pick-up and drop-off routines
✅ Let’s work together for a safe and smooth start to the year!

Porcupine Family, We want to make you aware of a new state law that will impact all public schools across Texas, including Springtown ISD. Governor Greg Abbott has signed House Bill 1481 into law, which prohibits K-12 students from using personal digital devices, including cell phones and smartwatches, during school hours. Please know: this is not a local district initiative—it is now state law and will go into effect at the start of the 2025–2026 school year. While the law provides some flexibility for districts in how to implement the ban, such as allowing use during extracurricular activities or providing secure storage options, Springtown ISD is currently reviewing what implementation will look like on our campuses. We will communicate more details as we get closer to the start of the school year. For now, we simply wanted to make families aware that students will not be allowed to use personal digital devices during the school day beginning in 2025–2026, in accordance with HB 1481. Thank you for your continued support as we work to comply with state law and ensure the best learning environment for all students. – Shane Strickland Superintendent of Schools  Springtown ISD
